Every now and then in our life, we tend to look at other people and start comparing ourselves with them, from the looks, the things they possess, the life they are living to the money they are earning. We also sometimes tend to wish that we are living other people’s life too.

However, in the end of the day, we always feel more miserable about our life and think about all the ‘what if’. What if I had more money, what if I had the looks, what if I’m taller or smarter, then only, I can live a better life. As Theodore Roosevelt said ‘Comparison is the thief of joy‘. In other words, ‘compare with others will lead us to despair’.

Therefore, don’t compare yourself with others. The only person you can compare is yourself from yesterday. Ask yourself, ‘Am I better than I was yesterday?’, Have I gotten closer to my dream since yesterday?’ or ‘Am I the best version of myself right now?’. If you compare with yourself and not others, it will give you the motivation and the drive to improve, to try to become a better you than you were yesterday.

Winner compare their achievements with their goals, while loser compare their achievements with those of other people.

However, sometimes we imagine of being like someone else who have it all. King Rahman said,’Don’t compare yourself with others… No one plays a better role than you’. You see, we are all unique as we are, why try being like someone else? Another author by the name of Jon Acuff said,‘Don’t compare your beginning with someone else middle.‘ Sometimes, the people we are comparing to are already on their chapter 20 and we are just on Chapter 3. Therefore, keep doing what you are doing to improve yourself daily to get and become the person you want to be. One of the first thing to do, is not to compare with others, and only compare with yourself from yesterday.
