If you want something you have never had, you must be willing to do something you’ve never done.

Thomas Jefferson

Albert Einstein once defined Insanity as ‘doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.’

Sometimes in our life, when we want to achieved a certain goal, for instance, to secure a business deal, to get the promotion, to reach your sales target, etc… we sometimes keep using the same method and strategy to do it even though it is clearly not working. A few of the reasons why is because of our fear of change, fear to be doing something not in our comfort zone and the fear of failure when we change. However, if we keep continuing to do anything the same way, the outcome at the end will eventually be the same.

Therefore, if we want to reach a dream that we have never yet achieve, we need to do something that we have never done. We must be willing to take some risk and change some ways we do things in order to reach our goal. It is important to know that, if we find it impossible to reach a goal, we should not change our goal but rather we should change our plan in reaching our goal.

Thomas J Watson said, ‘To increase your rate of success, double your rate of failure.’ What is holding us back most of the time is our fear of failure and thus we prefer to stay in our comfort zone. But it is through failure, we learn and through failure, we improve and get better. From the words of Yoda, ‘Your greatest teacher, failure is’. Hence, let us learn to take some risk, do things differently and change things that are not working. One day, the things we wish for in life, the goals and dreams we have never achieve, suddenly, we are able to achieved it. Hence, if there are anything not working in your life right now, start doing things you have not done before.
