Change is the only constant in life. Ones ability to adapt to those changes will determine your success in life.Benjamin Franklin
Many of us are stuck in our life not because we not working hard enough but because of our fear to making changes. You may work very hard to improve your job, your business or your relationship but sometimes it will not work until we make a change, be it in our tactics, strategy or approach. According to Albert Einstein states that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.
In this world, people, technology, designs and many more others things are always constantly changing and revolving, it is therefore our duty as well to adapt to those changes. What I like about Bruce Lee is when he mentioned that ‘we all must learn how to be like water.’ You see, when we pour water into a jar, the water will become the shape of the jar, when we pour water into a bathtub, the water will become the shape of the bathtub.
Now let’s uncover some of the reasons why we fear of change:-
1. Outside Comfort Zone
One of the reason why we fear change is because it is outside our comfort zone. The thing is that there are always first time for everything, be it managing a huge project or presenting a proposal to an important client. All we need to do is to take up the courage to do it.
2. Change and It Becomes Worse
Another reason I believe is that many will think ‘what if we change and the outcome is much worse than before.’ Yes, it may be true but Eliezer Yudkowsky said this, ‘Not every change is an improvement but every improvement is by change. Therefore, change is still an essential part to improvement. To improve, we need to change.
3. No Need for Change
However what if our ongoing business or job is doing well and there is no reason to change it. However, if you have watched ‘The Black Panther’, one scene, Princess Shuri said this ‘Just because something works, doesn’t mean it can’t be improve.‘ It goes to show, we can always look for improvements and all the time.
Therefore, in closing, remember one thing, CHANGE is the only constant. No matter where you are and what you are doing in your life, always remember to keep changing, keep improving, keep finding ways to better yourself and the world. You don’t need to drastically change everything but just make tiny changes little by little. These small improvements will often have huge impact in your life. I believe when you start making those changes, things will start to change in your favour.
