Don’t let the noise of other people opinions drown out your own inner voiceSteve Jobs
How many of us quit doing what we love because of the opinion of others?
I almost did… and I am sure many of you too can relate to this…
There was a time when I was presenting my proposal to a few managers, they were quite impressed with the presentation but one of them said to me out front that I was too short to be a speaker or a trainer, when I heard that for the first time, something in me starts to question my decision to be a speaker.
Few moments after, I stumble upon some videos of Les Brown as he shared his story, one quote stood out for me when he said, “Someone’s opinion of you does not have to become your reality.” After hearing it, I began to believe again that my dreams are possible. This experienced thought me a something, what others said about you is not nearly as important to what you say to yourself.
Here’s the thing, in our life there will always be people who will says mean things to you, who will talk down on your dreams, who would make you feel defeated, untalented and a failure. Sometimes, the people who says these words are the people closest to us, for instances, your family and friends. And because its from them, we might think that they are right.
However, remember that what you say to yourself is much more superior and important in your life. What you say to yourself will often determine and shape your destiny. We should not be tremble by the words of others but to take courage and say that I am able. Say things to yourself that will lift up your spirit, say “I am a winner, I am smart, I am talented and I will achieve my dreams”.
Today, you may have gone through these few days with people who talk down and talk you out of your dreams but it is you who can talk yourself back into your dreams. In conclusion, take this key with you that what you say about yourself carry more significance than what others say about you.
