Be sure to BEND but never BREAK

Nikki Rowe

In life, sometimes there will be winds of adversity, failure and disaster will try to blow your hopes away, blow your dreams down, blow your confidence off till the point that we might break.

But here’s what we can learn from the palm trees. No matter how brutal the winds and the hurricanes are, it is the palm trees that will bend but not break. And once the winds and the hurricanes are gone, the palm trees will have the ability to stand back straight up and continue to stand tall.

Here’s the thing, we can become like that palm trees. Whatever and whenever adversity arises in your life, know that it will not blow you away. Learn to bend but not break. And once the season of adversity is over, learn to stand back up tall for you have overcome the storm. I believe each of us can become the palm trees, bend but not break….

In closing, I would like to share a poem called ‘I Bend’. Read and be inspired!

I bend but do not break.
I’ve been lost, but I’m not a loser.
I’m a wreck, but I’m not totaled.
I’m fractured but not broken.
I’ve failed, but I’m not a failure.
I’ve fallen hard but can get up again.
I’m isolated, but still I’m free.
I have been destroyed but will rebuild.
My heart is broken, but it will mend.
See, no matter how close I come to breaking, I just continue to bend.
